Pink Baby Swing
Not Just for Girls: The Pink Baby Swing

Once you walk into any store’s clothing department for infants, you will immediately notice the segregation of the boys’ clothes from the girls’ – it’s a fight between blue and pink. Pink colors point out the baby girls’ section while blue is for the boys’ section. But since when did these two colors become gender specific?
The start of gender designation through the colors blue and pink is relatively unknown though some say that was based on the 1868 publication, Little Women. In the novel, a woman named Amy tied a pink bow to one of her twin babies and a blue bow to the other; this is to let people distinguish the girl baby between the boy.
Nowadays, it has been tradition to automatically buy pink clothing and baby items once it has been known that the woman is pregnant with a baby girl and blue to pregnant moms who are having a boy. Though there is nothing wrong with this, it is quite puzzling to know that baby girls can own blue clothes and baby equipment but baby boys can’t own anything that is colored pink.
A pink baby swing, for example, will look great on both sexes. It actually doesn’t matter what color it is because a baby swing is very functional. A pink baby swing acts as mom’s much needed extra pair of hands. It keeps baby occupied and entertained while mom cooks food, does the laundry or vacuum the house. This wonderful baby equipment rocks back and forth repeatedly that the motion never fails to lull even the most finicky baby to sleep therefore giving mom a bit of quality time with herself.
Just like other colored baby swings, the pink baby swing has numerous features essential in keeping the baby contented. It has a multi-speed function ranging from the gentlest rocking to a more pronounced swaying. It may or may have an automatic shut-down timer that is very practical in order to save batteries. Pink baby swings offer several reclining position as well as musical tunes to ensure baby’s maximum comfort. Other models also have a removable tray and mobile.
Pink baby swings are available in different types varying from the traditional, full size baby swings to the more compact, lightweight portable swings. Traditional baby swings are bulkier as they have several added features not found in smaller, portable ones. It also has a more decorations and attachments included. The lightweight, portable types of pink baby swings are not necessarily bare of add-ons. They still have toys, pillows and padding but though limited and compact. These portable pink swings are very popular to those parents who often take their babies to visit Grandma or while on a vacation.
Pink is not a demoralizing color when worn by boys. In fact, it adds masculinity not lessen it (cue in Miami Vice soundtrack and Don Johnson’s famous pink shirt). Don’t be afraid to buy a pink baby swing for your baby boy. It is said that real men, or in this case, babies wear pink.
